Team Fortress 2 On Hold! Warzone Is On!

I recently got Killzone 2 for the PS3 and I must say that it is one gorgeous game! Sure its an FPS but its one that was done with so much style! Before the game was released, GameTrailers.com featured some videos regarding the class badges in the online play. Looking at it for the first time would make you realize that its almost similar to Team Fortress 2. Each class has its special skills just like in Team Fortress 2.

But once you actually play the game, you realize its not as similar as you think. I'll use the medic class as an example. In Team Fortress 2, the medic is limited to healing, has a medigun and a bonesaw for close combat but is not really meant for offense. Here, the medic can be part of the offensive team since he gets an assault rifle and a pistol. His skill is being able to revive mortally wounded players and bring them back into the action. What do I mean by mortally wounded? Basically your character goes down from taking too many hits but is not dead. During this time, you can be revived by a medic and go back into the action instead of respawning. Being revived restores your health to full by the way. So as long as a medic is nearby and you don't recieve a headshot, expect to be back into action. As for healing, you have to unlock a secondary badge that allows the medic to throw med packs. Med packs fully restores your health so if your team is in the thick of combat, stay behind them and toss some med packs their way to keep em alive.

Another thing that makes the online interesting is that your character grows. The different classes are not accessible to you right off the bat. You get experience points from kills and after each match the score adds up to your overall experience. As your rank goes up, you get access to more weapons and more classes. Similar to Team Fortress 2's achievements are the medals. You earn medals doing combat specific actions. For example, reviving 5 teammates in a match earns you 1 medal. Get 8 of these medals and you unlock more skills.

How the environments interact with the players is also impressive. Shoot at concrete walls and it gets destroyed plus you get dust flying from the destruction. Toss a grenade and not only do you get an explosion but a little smoke to temporarily blind your opponents from an oncoming rush from your side. It gives you more options in terms of thinking of a tactic to engage your opponents. Lastly, what I love about this game compared to Team Fortress 2 is access to assault rifles! No offense to Team Fortress 2 fans but I find the shotgun as a secondary weapon to be too boring.

Definitely the meat of this game is in the online. I've actually only done the first level of the campaign and yet I can't stop playing the online mode. This game is a must get for PS3 owners!
